Eugenie Najjar, born and raised in New York City, started her life in Providence, RI in 1979 as an artist. She has a BFA from RISD in photography and an MFA from NYU/International Center of Photography.
Eugenie attended the Master Gardener program at URI in 1993, a year after starting the business in 1992 and she matriculated through the Radcliffe Seminars Landscape Design Program from 1992-1995.

Ground Flora grew out of a passion for both the plant world and a personal drive to live in an aesthetically beautiful space.
Within her creative self, Eugenie bridges the fundamental elements of making photographs with gardening where light, space and time come together…. resulting in a final product that is never truly final…. where one form tries to stop time, there is a constant change and shifting with time in the other. This dynamic element of impermanence in gardening is what makes being a gardener so interesting.

Eugenie is passionate about the English gardening landscape and continues to be inspired by the work done in the UK, both in traditional and modern design.
She continues to expand her knowledge of native and traditional species and design practice within the expanse of the New England landscape.
